MARCH'S ISSUE____________________

Honoring Coretta

The world mourned the loss of Mrs. Coretta Scott King in January. At 78, she departed this life, but not without leaving an incredible impression on the society in which she lived. She and her husband marched for righteousness for all people, and her legacy will live on despite of her untimely departure. Atlanta Tribune: The Magazine honors her life with a timeline of her achievements, uplifting words from her four children and influential Atlantans.

Saluting Corporate Sheroes

From leading Lockheed to steering the success of black businesses, many women have taken control of the reigns and they’re not looking back. Atlanta Tribune: The Magazine salutes eight high-ranking female executives for their tenacity and determination to excel despite the odds. They are a testament that success is never out of reach for those who are not afraid to strive past the ever-present obstacles.

Historical Moments in Women’s History

Mary McLeod Bethune, Debra Lee, Andrea Jung and Ruth Simmons are among history-making women. During Women’s History Month, we honor the scores of women who perservered for their daughters and granddaughters. We applaud the first black to win an Olympic gold medal, the first to receive a patent for a medical invention and the first to head a major advertising agency; all of which were women!

Under Forty and Savoring Success

As women continue to level the playing field in corporate America, there are quite a few young African-American women who are in a league of their own. They are leaders in their fields and yet they are younger than many of their counterparts. Meet six successful women under forty years old who have not let gender, race or age determine their path.
